Good seafood should not be a problem in Santa Marta. But I recommend taking a minibus to Taganga, $1 and 15 minutes from Santa Marta. Taganga is a small village and along the main beach there are more than 10 restaurants with very good and cheap seafood. I have paid 4$ for a huge fish and a shrimp ceviche!
